On a once a week basis for the last eighteen months we have been planting, sowing, chopping and clearing the Willow Hey site readying it for the delivery of courses and practical skills workshops for local people to access. After much work and dedication the site is now up and running and is currently offering Men in Sheds workshops for men who have become socially isolated through depression, or just wanting to get out of the house more, and there was also be a variety of workshops running through the summer which will be announced very shortly.
As part of overall commitment and connection with the project we are now able to confirm that we will be running an introduction to Urban Permaculture on the site on Saturday the 23rd of July. We see this one day course as an opportunity for people to get to know more about Permaculture from an urban perspective. We will begin our day looking at the origins and foundations of permaculture, looking at the ethics and principles and their use in design and everyday life.
After a lunch of curry and rice sat around the chilled out fire circle of the site we will look at practical permaculture measures that we are able to implement into our daily lives and our homes. We have tried to make this day as affordable as possible for all wishing to attend regardless of income status as we believe it is very important to get the ideas of practices of Permaculture out there as they offer simple long term workable solutions to many of the problems that presently face us .
