Get growing Breightmet 23rd May: potting on

Whilst the weather has been largely quite warm despite torrential downpours in-between it makes a lot of sense to intensify our work and get as many seeds into the ground, pots and seed trays as we can during the next month. It Was great to see Storyteller and award winning blogger Len Grant was sat outside the UCAN centre asking people what they had had for breakfast and sketching them as they chatted. All part of getting the picture behind the issues of food on the estate.

So today I a started a conveyor belt type affair in the alley way at the back of the UCAN centre, armed with dozens of large pots, a ton bag of compost and assorted plants and seeds. After the potting on was complete I tidied the Yarden up and prepared a few pots that will provide salad to staff and community members who use the Yarden during the summer and autumn. After giving everything a thorough watering it was off out around Breightmet dropping off  bits and pieces of gardening resources.
