Willow Hey community food growing project 5th Nov update

We all knew that the weather wasnt going to be great today, but luckily by the time we had all arrived on site the weather was easily bearable and so we set about running round different parts of the site doing various jobs. By the time it did start hammering down in the late afternoon we had managed to plant dozens of (late) spring cabbages, overwintering broad beans, and the remainder of the Japanese onion sets.

We also planted on our grapevine in one of the old school greenhouses, and Ian completely tidied and cleared our other greenhouses ready for 2016. Meanwhile at the front end of the site Land rover Dave continued rebuilding an old shed/greenhouse that is going to be our Hub building in 2016.

We are really looking forward to using our Hub building as it will enable us to deliver training and a variety of food related courses to local people on the Estate.
