Growing clinic@Beechcroft community allotments 23rd May

Today’s work on the Beechcroft community allotment site is a continuation of the work we started on our visit to the site in early May when we began working on a shelter made from old pallets. The design for the shelter has taken shape naturally based on the available materials to hand. Today we nailed sections of pallets onto the sides of the structure where site members will section off the pallet sidings and use them as vertical growing spaces, giving them an extra area in which to grow herbs and wild flowers.

You’ve got to hand it to the Beechcroft women Carol and Sarah who have largely carried out much of the work on this structure during the last month their selves, with a little bit more fettling and snagging the structure will soon be complete and they will be able to sit under the structure on cold wet days and continue to carry out their gardening work without hindrance from the weather.
