Willow Hey project update May 13th

I arrived at the Willow Hey site just before 9 this morning, Landrover Dave was already on site fixing the chicken house panels together with ties and bolts.Whilst Dave continued fitting the panels I watered all of the trays and pots in the greenhouses, and the new orchard to the rear of the site. At around half ten we nipped out to local timber merchants Anthony Axfords to buy some timber and fixings needed to finish off the roof of the chicken enclosure.

In the afternoon Dave measured and made the roof frame for the chicken house roof, which we are hoping will be populated with birds during the next seven days.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I sowed seeds into the raised beds, and built two squirrel proof cold frames inside the greenhouse to keep them from eating our seeds, during the last week weeks they have eaten all of our courgette, cucumber and pepper seeds.

When our work on the site had finished today I took a walk round the orchard at the rear of the site and there flowers, blossom and young spiraling ferns decorating the orchard floor.
