Southfields: A community minded pub

We run a community food growing project on the old tennis courts in the grounds of Southfields pub on Green Lane in Great Lever Bolton.southfields pub pic Community minded pub Landlord Graeme allowed this to happen by offering us free use of the old tennis courts space on which our project is based. In the autumn of 2013 our project won an environmental award from housing charity Bolton at Home. If it wasn’t for Graeme and his community mindedness and generosity we would not have won this award and not been able to offer our help to people trying to grow their own food in the area, he has been fully supportive of our project through both the rough and smooth days of our development and we are really grateful for this, and the countless free refreshments that you have provided whilst holding meetings in the Pub. If any regulars at Southfields pub are interested in growing their own food at home, please do not hesitate to come down to the old tennis courts and have a brew and chat with us, we are there every Tuesday from 9:30-12:30 but will be extending the days and hours that our sessions run during the next few weeks.
